National Forest Adventure Farm

Introduction 

Situated outside of Burton on Trent, The National Forest Adventure Farm is a quality family visitor attraction.  We welcome all visitors and aim to offer a great family day out! 

The farm includes: 

  • Animal viewing and interaction both inside (a barn) and outside in paddocks 
  • Large outdoor play area 
  • Tractor and Trailer rides 
  • Barrel ride 
  • Large indoor play area 
  • 120 seat restaurant and outside catering outlets 
  • Gift Shop 

 

Much of the site is on one level with access to higher/ lower levels via ramp or steps with handrail. 

Our staff are always on hand to provide assistance should it be required. If you have any specific requirements, please contact us! 

Pre-Arrival

The nearest railway station is Burton on Trent which is 2.7 miles from the Farm. Taxis are available at the station. If you require an accessible taxi you can book this in advance. New Street Taxis can be contacted at 01283 535353 

The nearest bus stop to the Farm is opposite The Acorn public house on Henhurst Hill is 0.4 miles from our entrance. There is a shelter and seating. The number 10 Diamond bus can be boarded at Burton on Trent railway station and outside The Octagon Shopping Centre in Burton on Trent town centre.  For time table information please visit https://www.diamondbuses.com/bus-services/em/em-10-burton/ . Please note there is short section of Postern Road between the bus stop and the Farm that does not have a pavement. 

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities 

The Farm has a large free car park with 10 marked Blue Badge parking spaces which are 20m from the main entrance. There is drop off point outside the main entrance. 

The car park is a mix of hard core, tarmac and grass matting. There is also a large grass overspill car park. 

There are no steps leading to the double entrance doors  

Main Entrance and Ticketing Area 

The main entrance, as most of the site, is on one level and there is seating available. 

The area is evenly and well lit with overhead lighting from fluorescent lights. 

The tills are at desk height.

Outside Areas  

Paths and walkways around the Farm are hard core, with some loose chippings, and are one level. There is slight slope to the paths around the animal paddocks. Between the pathways are grassed areas which can be uneven. 

There are movable picnic tables with chairs situated throughout the outside Farm areas. 

Funfield & Outside Activities 

The Funfield contains outside play equipment: pedal go-karts, sand pit, pirate ship climbing frame, 2 jumping pillows, crazy golf, assault course, beat the goal football game, splash zone, inflatable bouncy slide, fossil dig and wheelchair accessible Musical Maze. 

In the courtyard area there are sit on pedal tractors, traversing wall and sandpit with climbing frame. 

All the activities are accessible via level hard core paths. 

The tractor and trailer ride seats 30 people. The trailer seating is accessed via 2 steep steps. Wheelchairs and pushchairs cannot be accommodated on the trailer. Staff are able to assist with boarding the trailer, please contact us ahead of your visit on 01283 533 933. 

If you would like a wheelchair accessible tractor ride this can be arranged, please notify us ahead of your visit on 01283 533 933 to arrange this. 

The barrel ride consists of a train of barrel sized trailers pulled by a small tractor around a course. The participants need to be able to climb in or be assisted in to the barrel. Passengers are secured with seat belt. 

Animal Barn and Animal Paddocks  

The animal barn is undercover and can be assessed through wide doors. The animal barn is on one level. There are daily animal demonstrations and interaction opportunities. Staff are on hand to assist any visitor should it be required. 

There is also a viewing platform in the animal barn that is accessed by a ramp. 

The outside animal paddocks are accessible via hard core pathways. There is a slight slope in the paddock area. 

There are hand-washing areas at the exit of the animal barn, the paddock area and outside The Farmhouse Kitchen restaurant. We ask that all visitors wash and dry their hands with warm water and soap after visiting the paddocks and animal barn and again before eating. 

Inside Areas – Restaurant, Gift Shop and Play Area 

Access to the inside areas are through wide doors. The play area is on a lower level than the restaurant and gift shop and can be accessed via a ramp or steps with handrail. 

Indoor Play Area 

There is level access to the play area from the outside area or down steps (with handrail) or a ramp from the restaurant. Whilst the play area is accessible, the play equipment may not be accessible to all. 

The play area contains: 

  • an under 5’s play area with 0.65m high continuous barrier 
  • a large, 3 level over 4’s play area including 4 steep slides accessed by steps with a hand rail 
  • a 2 level giant brick area with 0.65m high continuous barrier 

There movable tables and chairs throughout the play area. 

With the play area are 3 party rooms to host children’s parties. Each has level access and moveable tables and chairs. 

The Farmhouse Kitchen (Main Restaurant) 

There is level access to the restaurant from the outside area or up steps (with handrail) or ramp from the play area. 

The tables and chairs are moveable with the chairs being a mix of open sided upright chairs, benches and picnic tables. 

The lighting in the café is a mix of natural lighting and overhead florescent lights 

At busy times the restaurant is servery style with food served at point of ordering. If you need food to be brought to the table, please speak to a member of our team and we can assist with this. 

Where possible our food is locally sourced. We do our best to cater for any dietary requirements. Please contact us in advance to check any specific requests you may have.  

High chairs are available. There is a microwave for heating up your own baby food. 

The Garden Kitchen and Ice Cream Parlour 

The outside catering unit is based in our outdoor play area and serves ice creams and hot and cold food and drinks. 

There is level access to the catering unit. 

Whilst the counter level at desk height. Staff are happy to bring items to customers if required. 

Gift Shop and Exit 

There are no steps to the shop and access is through a wide opening from the restaurant or through a wide door from the outside area.  

The lighting in the gift shop is a mix of natural lighting and overhead florescent lights 

The shop is level throughout. 

Many items are at a low level and staff will be happy to help reach items from higher shelves. 

The exit is through the shop through a wide level door to the car park. 

Inside Toilets 

There is level access to the toilet area which is attached to the main internal areas. There is one unisex disabled toilet with non-slip flooring and emergency alarm pull cord. There are lever taps on the sink. 

There is also separate baby changing room with toilet. 

Outside Toilets 

The outside toilets are located near the courtyard area. There are step up to the toilets and there is not disabled toilet. 

First Aid Room and Changing Places Room 

This is located near the courtyard in the centre of the farm and contains a toilet plus adult sized changing bed and hoist. This room is locked therefore customer wishing to use it will need to collect a key from the front entrance. 

Additional Information 

We have a fire alarm and a set of evacuation procedures. Should it be required, a member of staff will assist you with evacuation. 

Many members of our staff have first aid qualifications. Also several members of our staff have been trained on defibrillator use. 

We have a first aid room including shower. 

No dogs are allowed on site except for assistance dogs.
