Sustainability at the National Forest Adventure Farm
Our commitment to sustainability at the National Forest Adventure Farm is unwavering and ongoing. In addition to the 100-kilowatt solar array and biomass boiler installed to heat our main building and water, we’ve also planted over 35 acres of woodland to foster habitat creation and enhance our site’s biodiversity. This woodland not only provides a habitat for local wildlife but also offers visitors a chance to connect with nature and learn about the importance of environmental stewardship.
Recent sustainability initiatives include upgrading our animal food pot recycling station, allowing us to better manage waste and encourage recycling among our visitors. We’ve also invested in digital signage to minimize paper handouts, reducing our reliance on printed materials and decreasing our overall environmental footprint. Our digital signage not only saves trees but also provides a dynamic and engaging way to share information with our guests.
We are continually exploring further eco-friendly practices to enhance our sustainability efforts. This includes initiatives like composting organic waste to enrich our soil, and using energy-efficient lighting and appliances throughout the farm. We also work closely with local suppliers to source sustainable and locally-produced goods, supporting our community and reducing our carbon footprint.
Local Suppliers include:
Paul Shum Butchers of Yoxall as well as meat from our own Farm
Bluebell Dairy from Derby
Harlow Bros Timber from Burton
Hadley Reclaim from Yoxall
Furthermore, we are committed to educating our visitors about sustainability and environmental conservation. Through school trip workshops, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet and inspire our guests to adopt sustainable practices in their own lives.
By integrating sustainability into every aspect of our operations, we strive to create a positive impact on the environment while providing an enjoyable and educational experience for our visitors. Our goal is to be a model of sustainability and inclusivity in the tourism industry, demonstrating that it is possible to run a successful business while being responsible stewards of the earth.
